Looking towards 2018

The new year always brings new hope, it’s a chance to start afresh and create a new action plan to have a successful year. However you cant just jump into it without preparing for it, after all

“Tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today”

– African Proverb.

In last weeks post we talked about the importance of reflection in both your Business and Personal life, and we gave you a simple guide to perform your reflection.

So whats next ? Now its time to look forward.

You must be wondering how exactly do you enter the new year, with all your goals, set and ready to be attained? I’ll give you a little hint, it involves a WHOLE LOTTA PLANNING.

Why the emphasis on planning?

When it comes to goal setting, Preparation and Planning contributes to at least 80% of your success, the remaining 20% is your determination and ofcourse, a little bit of luck!

  • Planning helps you clearly “Identify your goals”: As you sit down and really think about what exactly you want to achieve in 2018, you will find yourself creating well structured and well thought out plans.  So are you planning long term goals, short term (and more attainable goals)? This is where you break it all down.
  • Helps you work through those pesky possible obstacles: It’s easy to say you want to make more money, lose weight, read more, learn a new skill etc. But do you know what your obstacles are, how best to achieve said goal  and how to overcome them?? This is where the art of planning comes in handy.
  • Helps you gain perspective: During the planning process, as you visualise how you want your 2018 to be you really come to understand what is important and what isn’t, as well as prioritising them accordingly. Don’t be afraid to let go of things decluttering your life is one of the most important things you can do.We’re going to talk about this more in depth later in this post.

How to start off your 2018 just right and KEEP it that way!

Forget over complicated ways to a better 2018 for you, (well apart from the planning process, but “Spend enough time planning so you can have an easy time executing” is the motto) below are some easy steps that you can take that you can apply to most parts of your life.

De-clutter!

Yup EVERYTHING!

INBOX.

Go through your computer, your wardrobe, even your personal life! look at your inbox, are you the type to have subscribed to a million different things and have your inbox packed to the brim???

Well how about you go through the list and start unsubscribing to the ones that are no longer relevant. Letting go is actually an important aspect of moving forward and starting afresh. and if you’re having trouble trying to decide (it’s okay we understand) then consider this:

We all have 24 hours in a day, are you willing to sacrifice your time on a subscription that doesn’t get you closer to achieving your goals?   Exactly.

STUFF.

Did you know….the older we get,  the happier we become when we give?

Absolutely! Numerous studies  conducted,  have proven that regardless of income, people who often gave to charity(whatever that may entail) reported a higher rate of happiness and overall satisfaction in their lives.

So go on try it, go into your closet, or house and find even one item that you no longer use and give it away. You might end up finding a whole lot of stuff that you no longer have any attachment to, and besides they will probably be more useful to someone who needs them more.

PERSONAL LIFE.

Letting go of people is one of THE hardest things, because unlike items or clothes, these are real people you have known and have made connections and memories with.

Despite countless songs, movies and books talking about friendships that last a lifetime, the unfortunate 🙁 reality is that a majority don’t.  Sometimes the reasons are obvious but other times they aren’t and you’re left conflicted (trust your gut and heart and you will make the right decision).

S.M.A.R.T goals are bae!

Incase you don’t know what S.M.A.R.T stands for its: Specific, Measurable, Attainable/Achievable, Realistic and Timely.  You might think “Well that’s how everyone should plan out their goals” but you’d be surprised. Following this rule should be common sense, but unfortunately common sense ain’t so common.

But you, our lovely, won’t make that mistake now.. 🙂

So set aside some time during the planning process and follow the SMART goals method, and you won’t be sorry. SMART Goals will increase the likelihood of you actually obtaining what you set out to, because you will be able to have a clear path set out and watch how your 2018 will blossom into something amazing!!

LAST BUT NOT LEAST

Women as a whole are subjected to the stereotype that we don’t support each other how about we prove them wrong?

Get an accountability partner, get 3,4,5 accountability partners.. The more the merrier and help each other out and watch each other flourish, you will definitely get that warm fuzzy feeling knowing that you played a part in that!! you can also share ideas, get creative, and most importantly have loads of fun 😀

We would definitely love to hear back, get more opinions and ideas, and just have a chat in the comment section and don’t forget to tell a friend or 3 🙂

Happy holidays you Fabulous #Dangerouswoman xx
